Description

Create an official WhatsApp Business API account in Twilio, integrate it with Pipedrive and start communicating with your prospects and customers through Pipedrive’s Messaging Inbox:

  • Manage all WhatsApp conversations with prospects from one location
  • Assign WhatsApp conversations to other team members for smooth collaboration
  • Easily create new contacts, leads and deals and connect them to conversations, or link them to existing contacts
  • Proactively send relevant and timely notifications with WhatsApp messaging templates
  • View your WhatsApp messaging history from contact, lead and deal view

WhatsApp Business API is designed for medium to large companies looking to use WhatsApp with other team members. Creating a WhatsApp Business API Account is possible only via official WhatsApp providers like Twilio.

According to WhatsApp Business API terms, you may only contact people on WhatsApp if they have given you their mobile phone number or they have agreed to be contacted by you over WhatsApp.

If a person initiates a chat with your company, you may continue that conversation via WhatsApp for up to 24 hours after the last message sent to you by that person without charge ("24-hour Window"). Outside of the 24-hour Window, you may only send messages via approved Message Templates, for which we will charge the applicable rate.

Please note, that WhatsApp and Twilio may charge you with an additional fee for using WhatsApp business API.

Installation instructions

If you haven’t enabled WhatsApp Business number in Twilio:

To use this integration, you need to have your WhatsApp Business API number created and approved by WhatsApp and enabled in your Twilio account.

Please refer to Twilio’s documentation for more details on how to create a WhatsApp Business account.

If you already have enabled WhatsApp Business number in Twilio:

  1. Make sure your WhatsApp number is approved. To check whether your number is approved, open Twilio, go to the Messaging > WhatsApp senders section and look for the “Approved by WhatsApp“ status.
  2. From Pipedrive’s Marketplace, head to the Whatsapp by Twilio app details page, click ”Install now” and follow the installation instructions. Once completed, you will be redirected to the app configuration page.
  3. Sign in to your Twilio account and locate both Account SID and Auth Token on the dashboard. Then, add them on the app configuration page.
  4. Click “Authorize” to complete the integration
  5. That’s it! You can now use the integration with your team

Upon completion, send a test message to your WhatsApp Business API account and check whether you can see it in Pipedrive’s Messaging Inbox (Lead inbox>Messaging).

Don’t forget to create and approve message templates in Twilio to contact your customers outside of the 24-hours reply window.
