Pipedrive Grabbed Two Awards at the Estonian Startup Awards 2020

New York - 15 January 2021 - Pipedrive, the leading CRM for sales and marketing teams, won two awards at the Estonian Startup Awards 2020. Estonian-born Pipedrive’s co-founders Timo Rein, Martin Tajur, Martin Henk, Urmas Purde, Ragnar Sass received the prestigious ‘Founder of the Year’ title. In addition, Ragnar Sass won the Wise Wallet category for his contribution to the Estonian startup community as an active angel investor.

Also, Pipedrive’s options program and the wave of ex-Pipedrivers was a nominee in the ‘Giving Back Powerhouse’ category. The so-called #Pipedrivemafia has formed the biggest angel syndicate in the Nordic region with 40+ investors. Ex-pipedrivers have already started more than ten new startups, including Klaus, Outfunnel, Salto, and Eventornado. 300+ Estonian Pipedrive employees had stock options so they felt the meaning of reaching the unicorn status through the recent exit. The ‘Giving Back Powerhouse’ award went to Jõhvi Coding School, an innovative IT-education project, which is also supported by Pipedrive.

Estonian Startup sector is one of the fastest-growing industries of the Estonian economy, growing steadily 30% year-on-year. With a population of just over 1 million, Estonia has managed to cultivate 1,000 startups, 5 with unicorn status, including Pipedrive. The sector that is employing more than 6,500 people reached a revenue of €1B in 2020.

The Estonian Startup Awards were given out in nine categories by engaging the general public as well as a wide jury of experts. A public nomination round was launched to locate the most inspiring nominees; the final voting was based on a data-driven shortlist, carried out by a jury of 159 start-up founders.

The awards gala was opened by the President of the Republic of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid who is a strong supporter of the Estonian start-up community. The event was hosted by Martin Villig, co-founder of Bolt and President of the Estonian Founders Society, and Liis Narusk, co-founder and CEO of Certific.
