Pipedrive Named Breakthrough of the Year 2020 by Estonian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications

New York, 22 April, 2021 - Pipedrive, the leading CRM for sales and marketing teams, today announced it has been named Breakthrough of the Year 2020 by the Estonian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

Breakthrough of the Year is an award given to Estonian companies who have achieved economic or global success. The Estonian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications recognized Pipedrive for reaching unicorn status in the midst of a global pandemic. “The fact that Pipedrive managed to receive a majority investment from Vista Equity Partners and become Estonia’s fifth unicorn is a sign of sharp-wittedness and quality,” said Andre Krull, President of the Estonian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

“In the beginning of the global pandemic, uncertainty prevailed amongst customers and investors. In order to adapt to the new situation, we set the goal to control expenses, suspend the decrease in turnover, and streamline our product development plans. As a result, by July the decline reversed, and this attracted the attention of Vista Equity Partners, a leading global investment firm focused on enterprise software, data and technology-enabled businesses,” said Sergei Anikin, co-CEO & CTO, Pipedrive. “Our next ambitious business goal is to reach the status of a decacorn. To achieve this, we are expanding our product portfolio and expect to grow more than 35% yearly within the next 5 years. This has an impact on our recruitment plans and this year alone we plan to hire 300 people to accelerate the company’s growth trajectory.”

Estonian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications is a voluntary organization whose primary objective is to unite the Estonian information technology and telecommunications companies and organisations, to promote their co-operation in Estonia’s development towards information society, to represent and protect the interests of its member companies, and to express their common positions.

The awards were given out in three categories. Pipedrive was named the Breakthrough of the Year 2020, the Deed of the Year 2020 was given to Telia for opening the first 5G network in Estonia, and Marten Kaevats, National Digital Adviser for Estonia, was rewarded with the Person of the Year 2020 award. The awards were given out for the 23rd time.

In November 2020, Pipedrive announced it had signed an agreement to receive a majority investment from Vista Equity Partners. Pipedrive’s existing investors, Bessemer Venture Partners, Insight Partners, Atomico, DTCP, and Rembrandt Venture Partners, continued as minority investors in the company and partnered with Vista and the Pipedrive team to accelerate the company’s growth trajectory.
