Why Pipedrive was the logical choice for Boost’s own logistics

Justin Smith took over as President of Boost Transport in early 2025. Previously, he had implemented Pipedrive as the CRM of choice in numerous other businesses.

Justin had previously worked with Salesforce and Zoho. He says Salesforce was overly complex with too many administrative steps, while Zoho – though simpler – offered limited flexibility. Pipedrive immediately stood out for its simple setup and onboarding. Importing data was easy, even from imperfect spreadsheets, and the CRM could be launched quickly by anyone familiar with Excel.

He found Pipedrive to be far more intuitive as well. Its visual pipeline mirrored exactly how his sales team thought about deals, making it easy for reps to track progress and stay organized. From the start, the interface felt natural, helping his team focus on selling rather than learning complicated software.

Justin also points to how easily Pipedrive can be tailored to fit a company’s needs. Unlike previous systems that required expensive custom development, Pipedrive’s built-in flexibility enabled him to shape fields and workflows to match his process.

I’ve been using Pipedrive for the last 11 years and have brought it to each company I’ve joined since then.
In that time, I’ve added about $68 million in annual recurring revenues as won deals through Pipedrive. Many of those are still actively shipping with my previous companies. But even at Boost, just in the short time we’ve been using it, we’ve won more than $5 million of new revenue that we can see and verify.
Pipedrive was easy to use from the beginning and the setup guide is helpful. The pipeline stages actually follow the way we visually look at deals. And it seems like every year they’re adding more and more of the things that I’ve asked for, things that I want.
One of the things I appreciate most is how Pipedrive has grown with me. They listen to their customers and implement a lot of the things that we’ve pushed them to do. Pipedrive has been evolving with us and with tech.

How Pipedrive’s features and capabilities are boosting business

Justin Smith highlights several impactful Pipedrive features that have helped Boost Transport hone its sales strategy and accelerate growth. Tools such as Insights give the team complete visibility across the pipeline, making it a breeze to track performance and identify new opportunities. Custom fields add another layer of precision, enabling the capture of data points that matter most to their business.

Workflow automations have also played a vital role in scaling productivity. By removing repetitive admin tasks, Pipedrive enables the sales team to spend more time on meaningful conversations with customers and less time updating records. This improved efficiency has helped Boost Transport maintain focus on high-value activities that directly drive revenue.

Lead generation has become faster and smarter, too. Boost Transport uses LeadBooster for web forms and internal referral links, feeding new opportunities directly into the CRM. The company is currently experimenting with AI tools – including Fireflies.ai – to automatically summarize meetings and update deal records, and even trigger follow-up scheduling based on conversation notes.

Together, these Pipedrive tools are helping Boost Transport forecast more accurately and maintain momentum.

Most companies in my industry are trying to get better eyes on what their pipeline looks like, so Insights is helpful for that. Pipedrive is so customizable that we can teach our salespeople how to forecast the business they’re pursuing.
Workflow automations have been a game-changer. A sales rep might spend 45 seconds and up to 25 clicks just doing admin – scheduling next activities or sending follow-up emails. With Pipedrive’s automations, we’ve built workflows that handle most of that automatically. Now, reps can trigger emails and schedule next steps with just a couple of clicks. We’re saving around 40 seconds per task.
Web forms are super helpful, too. At every company I’ve brought Pipedrive to, we put web forms on our website and created internal web form links for internal referrals.
In our business, every load has an origin and a destination, and we usually only work with one side of that transaction. If our customer is the receiver, the shipper might be a potential customer, and vice versa. So we’ve given our operations team a simple way to flag those opportunities by submitting them directly to our salespeople through a web form. It’s an easy, creative way to generate new leads, especially as we drive more traffic to our website.

How Pipedrive is keeping operations on track – day in, day out

Pipedrive doesn’t just power growth – it keeps Boost Transport’s operations running smoothly every day. Workflow automations have streamlined administrative input and improved visibility across the business, making the sales process more disciplined and predictable. With routine updates handled automatically, sales reps can focus on building customer relationships, while managers get clearer insights into performance.

The team tracks every step of the sales process directly within Pipedrive, from prospecting activities – for example, calls and emails – to building activities for active deals. Discovery calls, presentations and onboarding stages are all mapped in the system, giving a complete view of each opportunity’s progress. Leads from ZoomInfo, Seamless, Apollo, internal referrals and web forms flow into the same structure, ensuring consistency and accountability.

A network of integrations and custom add-ons keeps everything connected behind the scenes. JustCall powers click-to-dial and call recording for smoother communication, while Projects manages mid- and post-cycle work, including pricing and onboarding. Boost Transport’s custom API integrations link Pipedrive with its Transportation Management System (TMS), enabling real-time comparison of forecasted and actual revenue.

The team appreciates the added visibility they didn’t have without a CRM. Everything used to be only in our TMS or emails. With shared visibility for all, we can see the benefits of the sales processes. There are customers that the team has worked with for 10 years and thought that there wasn’t any more business to be had.
We use integrations including JustCall, Microsoft Teams and PandaDoc. We’re now expanding PandaDoc across the business to manage our CPQ process (configuring, pricing and quoting customer solutions) and to handle e-signatures on all documents.
We built a custom integration between Pipedrive and our TMS so we can connect forecasts with actual results. If a rep expects to win $20,000 a month from a customer that spends $200,000 on freight, the system tracks that automatically. Mid-month, if we’re under $10,000, we know we’re off pace. It gives us instant visibility and accountability without needing expensive dashboard software.
Pipedrive helped me overcome one of the biggest challenges in sales: too many clicks and too much admin. I wanted my team to spend more time with customers and be creative on the phones. Getting that time back has been one of the greatest benefits Pipedrive has given us.

Final thoughts

In just a few months, Pipedrive has given Boost Transport a clearer and more connected view of its sales operations. Automation has reduced admin work, integrations have brought systems together and better visibility has helped the team stay focused and accountable. The firm now has plans for more AI-driven automations, from meeting transcription and summaries to scheduling follow-ups and research.

Justin Smith says Pipedrive’s flexibility makes it ideal for the logistics industry, enabling the company to tailor pipelines, products and data fields to reflect such variables as equipment types, service areas and freight forecasts.

At the last three companies I’ve worked for, I’ve been able to help the team triple or even quadruple our productivity, without having to rely on sales reps making 80 brainless cold calls a day. Pipedrive has been the backbone of that growth. It gives us the visibility, structure and process we need to execute effectively.
